Vanuatu Tourist Operator Intercepted


There was a maverick drone event Friday 10th March, 2017 in the late afternnoon at the Holiday Inn resort, Port Vila.

The drone was flying at an altitude of 173m - nearly 600ft. This is well within the helicopter' normal flight path and flying altitude.

Civil Aviation Authority Vanuatu - CAAV laws are now in place for RPAS (Drones) in Vanuatu and if you operate any of these aircraft, it's important that you read and follow the rules.

*RPAS is the official International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) term for such aircraft. They are also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), and Drones.

Vt5 Million 'Trespass' Demand

The Lessees of an island near Malo allegedly visited by an international film crew to do filming has resulted in the demand of Vt5 million from Vanuatu Tourism Office (VTO) for trespass on the leased land.

The ultimatum of Vt5 million or face a civil lawsuit was made by the lawyer for the Lessees of Malotina Island, Clifton Rau of Jack Kilu Lawyers.

Alleged South Korean TV Trespass

A film crew in Vanuatu has sparked a dispute after a trespass allegation was laid, along with a demand for $US 46,000 dollars.
The Vanuatu Daily Post reported SBS Korea and AHTV China were filming a South Korean reality show, Laws of the Jungle, on Malotina, near Malo Island in Santo.
